Pictured above is the infamous duckfish. This unfortunate creature has the back end of a duck, and the head of a fish. It is unable to live above water, because of its fish breathing system, and it is unable to survive comfortably below water because of the duck half. As such, they are forced into the position shown above.
You may know, that most ducks upend themselves in a similar manner on occasions in order to reach things below the water level. This can make it difficult to spot a duckfish, and be certain of it. The main difference is that duckfish are able to remain in this position for as long as they live, whilst ducks have to come up to breath occasionally.
Duckfish are considered very tasty, and are often used in pies. To catch a duckfish, the hunters pull upended ducks out of the water, and check for the fish head. If they catch a duck instead (as is most common) then the creature is returned at the end of the hunt.
Duckfish are not built to allow speedy movement, due to their awkward shape, and the inefficiency of their paddle like feet. This means that they are sitting ducks for any hunters, both human and wild.read more about the duckfish here: [link]
