The past, the present and the future of Squish

Ok, big journal here. I put headings in bold, so read what you want.

Drawing
Right, so I have been very quiet in my main gallery recently. I haven't disappeared entirely - as those of you who watch my scraps would know - but I haven't done any big pencil drawings recently.

This is for many reasons. Partly I was sort of 'burnt out' after the chinchilla - spending so much effort to do my best with that drawing kind of made it hard to work up the enthusiasm to do anything more. Also it's hard to feel I can improve on that drawing for some time. So I stopped drawing photorealism for a while.

I still have many half finished drawings, and hopefully one or two of them will make their way onto dA soon.

Whilst I haven't been doing much in the way of photorealsim, I have still been drawing. Check out my scraps for some of the stuff I've been doing, and if you like them, watch out for updates on a new project of mine... :excited:

Life
Well, what can I say? it's been going pretty much as normal, exams and stuff, hanging out with friends at college and around.

My Exams are over for this year, and I'm back at college starting on next year's courses. I just dropped computing (as did a couple of my friends, one of them told the teacher at the same time as I did... poor guy :XD: ). I don't think I did too badly in my exams, but then I also can't remember what they were even like.

I've been learning to drive and such, which is rather useful, but rather scary (parking terifies me). I'm hoping to take (and pass) my test at some point over the summer, and really ought to get my theory sorted out soon.

University open days are popping up all over the place and taking me by surprise - I managed to miss the oppertunity to go to Warwick open day, they were already fully booked when I realised how soon everything all was. However I will be going to a few, Sheffield included, which will involve driving to Birmingham, staying the night there, then getting a train to Sheffield (the tickets are sitting in front of me right now :D ).

HQ comes to London on the 14th... Who's going?!

If you have any idea how many times I've tried to get myself to one of the british devmeets, you might understand how amazed I am that I might actually be able to get to this one! As far as diary says, I have nothing else going on on Sunday, so with luck I will finally make an appearence.

Other stuff
I've been having a lot of fun going back and playing some of my old computer games, which is always fun - as long as they work. I've had all sorts of strange error messages popping up while trying to play/install various games; but enough have worked to make it worthwhile.

I've also been trying to read more. Before I started college I used to read about three books a week at least. Since then I dropped down to about one a month. Last week though, I went into town and borrowed about 8 books from the library, and have been ploughing my way through those and others I've picked up from the college library, and other places. I've even been trying a few new authors - just randomly picking up books that looked interesting, and I've made a few good finds that way.

I'm still playing in a lot of bands (although the number has dropped down to just three - two brass bands and a windband) and have concerts and open days all over the place. Added to the days I'm taking out for uni open days, I'm gonna be missing quite a lot of college. which will mean more work to do to stay on top of the workload. ah well, it's life.

Overall, things are going pretty well I think.
time go go back to... whatever it is I'm supposed to be doing :D
