So I guess it's been a while.

Since my last journal (less than year ago... just) some stuff has changed. I've graduated from university, moved house to the other end of the country, and started a new job. I've broken my laptop (again!) and am using an older one while I wait for the nice repair people to fix it. I've read a lot of books, played a lot of video games and seen a few movies.

I've spent the summer scribbling down ideas for a story of my own, and bits of that may find their way floating onto here - indeed already have in the case of my latest drawing 'character designs'. These are by no means set in stone, but the story is fixing itself more and more over time. To all those participating in NaNoWriMo this year, I plan to join you - not as a fellow contester (I think that would be cheating since I already have a draft of over 50k words) - but as a fellow writer. I'm giving myself until the end of October to re-read some of my favourite books and then I plan to start work on my 'real' first draft.

On the subject of my favourite books, I've just started re-reading Manda Scott's Boudica series, and wow is it hard work. I love these books so much, and I love the characters in them so much, but knowing what's going to happen to all the poor dear characters means I have to really work to bring myself to turn each page for dread of the terrible things I know are coming! Still, I equally can't bear not to read on so I'll get through it eventually but likely not without a few tears shed. Waaaah!

Anybody else got a book/film/song/whatever that you love but brings you to tears (literally, or figuratively for the tough guys!) every time?
  • Listening to: whirring of computer fans
  • Reading: too many books to mention
  • Eating: occasionally
  • Drinking: not at the moment

Uni is going ok, but group projects are not for me! Too many sunny day locked in a computer lab from 9am-midnight. Still, only one more year to go and at least individual project (probably) means I can work on it from home :D

life is... lifelike?

how's everything going with you? has your zoo increased in size at all recently?
